Dr. Patrick Mardini

Dr. Patrick Mardini is an assistant professor of finance at the University of Balamand in Lebanon and the coordinator of the finance concentration. His publications are in the field of financial crisis, banks’ instability and monetary systems. He also publishes on the danger of government intervention in a sectarian society. Dr.Mardini holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Paris Dauphine University. His past employment includes four years at the Paris mutual fund Modèles & Stratégies.

Richard Deeb

Richard Deeb is a managing partner at Mannai & Deeb for Legal Services in Qatar and Lebanon, the head of legal department at Jaidah Group and a member Jaidah’s senior management. Deeb, Esq. has an extensive working experience in business law, corporate law, joint venture acquisition and real-estate. He holds a Master’s Degree in Law from the University of Limoges in France. He writes about intellectual property and trademark law, political and diplomatic immunity and environment law.

Kristelle Mardini

Kristelle Mardini is a Regional Marketing Specialist at IAxcess, a company that offers technologies and IT security solutions. Her past experience includes three years in marketing at Al-Jadeed TV, a leading TV station in Lebanon where she developed a handbook on using various promotion platforms: TV, digital, radio, published press, traditional media, outdoor campaigns, etc. She holds a B.A. in Advertising and Marketing from Notre Dame University- Louaize and an M.A. in Communication and Information from Saint Joseph University in Lebanon.

Nour Bou Malhab

Nour Bou Malhab is the Education Manager at the Lebanese Institute for Market Studies - LIMS. She is a senior Economics student at the Lebanese American University with a minor in Political Science & International Relations, and a Law student at the Lebanese University. Nour has an experience in many NGOs in Lebanon such as AIESEC, Mentor Al Arabia for drug prevention, ALYounbouh, Scouts de l'Indépendance and Red Cross Youth Department. She is also a trainer at Model Arab League and Model European Union.

Charbel Gereige

Mr. Charbel Gereige is a software developer in the automated asset allocation tools in Blackrock. He is responsible for the development and maintenance of the system. His role requires skillset that spans software development as well as financial markets. Mr Gereige has worked in software development for financial institutions for the last 11 years starting his career in JP Morgan, and prior to Blackrock, he worked on the arbitrage desk of Barclays Capital. Mr Gereige holds an MA in Software Engineering from Telecom Paris, and an engineering degree from the Lebanese University.

Dr. Mazen Derawan

Dr. Mazen Derawan is a lifelong entrepreneur. He is the founder of the largest meat processing factory in the Middle East and of a successful residential construction business in the Chicago area. Dr. Derawan was the President of the Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago and was on the National Board of Directors of the National Association of Home Builders in Washington DC. He was also inducted to the Chicago Area Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame in 2005. Dr. Derawan is also a lifetime member of American Marketing Association Honorary Society and a member of several Chambers of commerce and industry. He holds a B.S in Marketing from the University of Illinois and a M.S in Integrated Marketing Communication from Northwestern University. After several years in business, he prepared his doctorate degree in Management at Case Western University but due to travel necessities, he obtained his Doctor of Business Administration degree at the European University in Switzerland.

Dr. Rajaa Makki

Dr. Rajaa Makki is a News Anchor since 2009 at France 24, an international news channel broadcasting in Arabic, English and French. Her past experience includes working for Radio Orient in Paris. She holds a Ph.D in Mass Communication from the Sorbonne University Paris 2 and her research focused on obstacles towards freedom of press and freedom of expression in Lebanon. She is active in the “Civil Marriage Campaign” in Lebanon and in the “No To Sectarianism campaign”.

Dr. Samer Adra

Dr. Samer Adra is an Assitant Professor of Finance at Notre Dame University - Louaize. He holds an MSc in Finance and a PhD in Financial Economics from the University of St Andrews in the United Kingdom. His research focuses on corporate takeovers and their related regulations, asset pricing, behavioral finance, and the effect of inefficient pricing on investment decisions. During his time at the University of St Andrews, Dr. Adra was a prominent member of both the Libertarian Society and the Free Market Association. Furthermore, he delivered various lectures on Business Cycle Theories and the interaction of Law and Economics.

Dr. Soha El Achi

Dr. Soha El Achi is an assistant professor of human resource management and the coordinator of marketing and human resources management at the Arab Open University in Lebanon. Her research is oriented toward human resource development, organizational behavior, labor market, leadership and entrepreneurship. Dr. El Achi holds a DBA from Grenoble School of Management and a M.S. in International Business from CERAM - European School of Business Management in France.

Dr. Saifedean Ammous

Dr. Saifedean Ammous is Assistant Professor of Economics at the Lebanese American University, and Foreign Member of the Center on Capitalism and Society at Columbia University in New York City. His research interests include monetary economics, political economy, economics of innovation, and free market systems. His research is motivated by a consideration of knowledge problems in economics and social affairs, the concept of spontaneous and emergent order, as well as the limitations of central planning. Dr.Ammous holds a PhD in Sustainable Development from Columbia University (2011), an MSc in Development Management (2004) from the London School of Economics.

Nader Sadek

Nader Sadek is a Legal Observer and Legal Analyst for a variety of public office individuals and organizations, his support includes the drafting of Contracts and managing Public Relations campaigns. Further work includes legal correspondence for a variety of publications including the Law Society Gazette, Justice Gap and contributing to a dialogue on a variety of issues which include Human rights, national and International Law, Aviation Law and public interest campaigns. Mr. Sadek holds an LLB in LAW with honours from keele University as well as a Degree in International Relations and has a Qualified MSC in Artificial Intelligence.

Dr. Darius Daniel

Dr. Darius Daniel Martin is an assistant professor of Economics at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. His research interests include macroeconomics, labor economics, and financial economics. Much of his research is devoted to understanding inequality, human capital accumulation, and the unexpected consequences of minimum wage legislation from a macroeconomic perspective. Dr. Martin holds a PhD in Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He has lived in United States, Lebanon, Iceland, South Africa, and the Netherlands.

Dr. Khalil Dayri

Dr. Khalil Dayri is a quantitative analyst in the algorithmic trading group of Bloomberg Tradebook. He is responsible for developing algorithmic trading strategies across global markets. His research focus on market microstructure and the process of price formation in electronic financial markets. Dr Dayri has been involved in algorithmic trading for about 10 years, his past employment include Bank of America in New York and a hedge fund in Paris. He holds an MA in mathematics from the University of Chicago and a PhD in applied mathematics from the Ecole Polytechnique in Paris.

Dima Karam

Dima Karam is an MBA student and a research assistant at the University of Balamand. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Holy Spirit- Kaslik. Mrs. Karam participated to LIMS training session in 2015 and started generating content for LIMS online resources(Blog and Facebook). Seeking a growing career in research, her current research interests include competition in the airline market.
